Matt Daniel, Chief Operating Officer
Matt is responsible for leading on corporate culture, improvement and implementation of Brain in Hand’s unique technology. Prior to joining Brain in Hand, Matt managed the Training and Consultancy team at YoungMinds and he has extensive experience working across heath, education and social care. Matt is passionate about delivering positive change through technology and has spent the last 12 years working with vulnerable people, parents and professionals on projects that build resilience and transform service provision.
In his spare time, he rides mountain bikes and encourages his children to do equally silly things.
Paul Allis, Business Development Director
Paul has been working with both public and private sector service providers delivering assistive technology solutions for 14 years. He is passionate about providing services that improve the lives and support the needs of individuals, but also deliver the cost effective pathway changes that providers so urgently need in order to continue to deliver quality care services at scale.
Heather Cook, Director of Innovation
Heather started her career at PA Consulting Group where she spent over 14 years delivering major change programmes across Government. She has a strong track record in working with senior management teams to develop the organisation vision, strategy and delivery structure to realise an organisation’s ambition.
Her real passion is supporting organisations to deliver innovation through the introduction of new technology. She is delivery focused, pragmatic, with a strong belief in skills transfer – perhaps best known for an engaging personal style that is supporting to business leaders; enabling necessary change to deliver an organisations corporate vision and ambition.
At Brain in Hand, Heather leads our major innovation and transformation team, working to embed the Brain in Hand system into new markets. Transforming the care provision of the social and health care sectors as they work to realise the user and organisational benefits that our system can bring
Anne Stenning, Company Secretary and Chief Finance Officer
Anne has a broad range of experience in finance, risk management and insurance through roles across the public, private and charity sectors. She has also spent some time as a secondary maths teacher, including working with children with special educational needs, and is currently a trustee for St Loyes Foundation in Exeter.
Louise Morpeth, Director Of Research and Development (Deputy Chief Executive)
Louise gained her PhD from Exeter University and spent 20 years leading research projects in the public and charity sector. She was CEO at Dartington Social Research Unit (a research charity) for five years and worked closely with universities, government departments and major philanthropic funders.
Her research was focussed on the impact of policy and practice on service users across social care, education and health. She has contributed to over 30 books and peer reviewed articles.
Louise leads research and development at Brain in Hand and is deputy to David Fry, CEO.
Outside of work, she loves to travel and dreams of owning a Campervan one day.
Sarah Todd, Service Delivery Director
Sarah has devoted her career to improving the academic, personal, and professional lives of individuals from diverse and underrepresented groups. As our Service Delivery Director, she’s responsible for ensuring all our users have the best experience with Brain in Hand; she and her team are proud to be a big part of supporting all Brain in Hand users to thrive in their neurodiversity and achieve their full potential.
Sarah secretly enjoys a lot of the things that most would think of as ‘boring’; she’s famed in the office for her spreadsheets, which can cause computers to do a decent impression of a jet engine. When not at work, her job is to make sure Sully the Newfoundland is cared for and given plenty of opportunities to make people as happy as possible.
Glenn Atter, Chief Technical Officer
Glenn is a Technologist with over 20 years of commercial software development experience with the majority of that time in a technology lead role. In his role as CTO, Glenn has taken the technology of Brain in Hand from an initial prototype to the system that it is now. He is keen to drive technology to help support mental health in the same way that technology has improved physical health in the last 5 years.
Sarah Hutchings, Senior Programme Manager
Sarah manages the delivery of multiple implementations and programs including account management and oversight of key stakeholder relationships. Sarah has extensive program management experience of supporting people across the Higher/further education and workplace sectors.
She is passionate about supporting people to help them overcome barriers to accessing education and employment, and is committed to the enhancement of the individual dignity that accompanies independence.
Sarah also believes technology with a human face can make a major contribution in this endeavour.
Outside of work Sarah enjoys long walks, time with family and friends, travelling and lastly but certainly not least following the fortunes of her beloved Wales rugby team, cymru am byth!!!
Luke Bennett, Senior Programme Manager
Luke has over 15 years’ experience in the public sector and has always been passionate about improving the help available for everyone to live fulfilling lives. He started his career as a support worker for homeless families and single people. He went on to work in policy and strategy working on a diverse set of programmes to improve local authority housing, health and social care. Before joining Brain in Hand, he worked as a systems thinking consultant to help local authorities transform delivery of special education provision, adult social care and employment and welfare advice. He’s also worked as an English language teacher to 11-16 year olds in Bangkok, Austria and Cambridge. In his free time, he enjoys yoga, travelling and theatre.
Serin Hartopp, Senior Programme Manager
Serin has a background in Psychology, with a focus on using technology as a tool for learning. Serin also has experience in acquired brain injury assessment and rehabilitation after working as an Assistant Psychologist within the NHS.
Jess Benger, Administration Support Officer
Jess’s role is to support the company to achieve its vision and goals by offering the administration support to all staff. The variety of tasks I carry out keeps the job exciting. My background in health, social care and education gives me the skills to understand funding and the needs of our customers. Alongside my role at the company I work as a Clerk to Governors for several schools and run my own dressmaking business.
Fiona Campbell, Programme Manager
Fiona projects are mainly in the South East, making sure everything runs smoothly!
Her background is primarily in Mental Health, but she has also worked in Social Care in both adults and children’s services. She loves working at Brain in Hand because she is passionate about supporting people to build their confidence, self-esteem and to manage anxiety.
Outside of work she enjoys a variety of crafts, which means that along with the hair from her four cats, she is usually covered in bits of thread and glitter. My pet hates include injustice and writing descriptions of myself.
Chris Durston, Business Development Officer
Chris is responsible for supporting the sales team from his comfortable base in the office while they’re all off jetting around the country. Whether he’s making appointments, producing and collating information and resources, or putting together videos of our amazing user case studies, Chris makes sure that our sales people are equipped to demonstrate the fantastic work we do.
When not at work, Chris can be found working on bizarre fiction or contributing to video gaming websites. His online work has included articles on how games can be accessible for all regardless of physical or mental impairments; it’s a topic that brings together a love of gaming and a belief that, whatever your difficulties, everyone deserves not only to achieve their goals but to have fun along the way.
Lisa Boullé, Business Support Manager
Lisa has a varied background in Business Support services mainly within the Security sector. She enjoys being part of a bright and vibrant team supporting all departments across Brain in Hand.
Jon Errington, Service Delivery Support Officer
Jon works with Brain in Hand customers across multiple areas of the business (DSA funded / Individual licences and group projects).
When not providing support to individuals directly, Jon spends the remainder of his time analysing data to assist Brain in Hand to make improvements to its service, liaising with Needs Assessors to improve relations and processes, as well as building stronger ties to University support services and monitoring trainer performance.
Jon knows the positive impact that utilising Brain in Hand has on our customers and what a difference having that extra support can make to achieve things that may have never thought possible before.
In his spare time Jon is a keen gamer (mostly Overwatch), film lover (Horror, Sci Fi), Harry Potter fan and owner of two kittens (Draco and Luna).
Victoria Fields, Programme Manager
Victoria has a clinical background working within the NHS and also has experience working in the international health sector with a special interest in reducing health inequalities and adoption of new technology.
Emma Flint, Social Media Co-ordinator
Emma has been with Brain in Hand since its early start-up days and now supports us as our Social Media Co-ordinator. With a background in public and third sector management, Emma is passionate about building on and off-line communities around good causes. A late-diagnosed “Actually Autistic” single mum to two, she is also a trainer with The Autism Plan, Director of Volunteering for Action to Prevent Suicide, and group facilitator at Volunteering in Health. Wellbeing through the weird and wonderful is her passion; she loves to crochet, drum, and run by the sea (and if there’s a way to do all three at the same time, she’ll find it).
Silje French, Service Delivery Support Officer
Silje comes to Brain in Hand from Norway, where she often claims to have been a member of the Norwegian royal family – but her colleagues have yet to see proof of this! From her experience living with arthrogryposis multiplex congenita (AMC), she is always compassionate towards those who have any kind of disability or difficulty, so helping struggling students overcome barriers in their education and personal lives is a natural fit for her. In her spare time, she enjoys crafts, or spending time with her husband and their dogs.
Emma Govier, Service Delivery Support Officer
Emma’s main responsibilities are renewals of student’s licences for Brain in Hand with different funding bodies. Organising training for new Specialist trainers to attend, this could be locally or all over the country. Maintaining their training files ready for audit inspection. She also arranges the new trainers shadowing / observation sessions as part of their onboarding to Brain in Hand.
Emma is very much involved in special projects within the HE sector and private organisations, after dealing with their referral form, she arranges the specialist training with their users. This can be all over the country and for up to 20 users at one time.
Emma enjoys organising the training with users all over the country and dealing with all challenges this can create.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys playing sport, going to bingo and spending time with her family.
Jon Harrison, Service Delivery Support Officer
Jon is responsible for ensuring that all of our users are set up and processed through our system accurately and in good time. He enjoys getting to grips with technology – through a meticulously crafted routine of buying, dropping, breaking and repairing – and was drawn to Brain in Hand’s approach of using technology to help people achieve their goals.
In his opinion, too much of his spare time is spent thinking about what to do with his spare time, or acting as a personal valet/dog’s body to BiH’s Chief Welfare Officer, Winston the pug.”
Neal Kelly, Business Development Manager
Neal works to introduce Brain in Hand to new organisations in the Midlands and South Wales. He has been working with NHS, local government and justice sectors for the past 7 years. Neal strongly believes that supporting organisations use technology better both to improve outcomes for people and at the same time provide efficiency savings for the public sector. Outside of work, Neal enjoys reading Sci-Fi books and keeping fit.
Michelle Martin, Programme Manager
Michelle has been with Brain in Hand since 2017 and manages programmes in the North of England. Coming from a 20-year career spanning business, education, training and mentoring Michelle is passionate about ensuring an excellent end user and client experience through building enduring relationships in a warm, trusting environment. She is particularly interested in innovative ways to promote positive self-image, positive problem solving and independence.
Outside work Michelle is continuously involved in learning and research and is currently completing a PG-Dip in Counselling and Psychotherapy. She also enjoys practising yoga, family walks in the countryside and wild swimming.
Francis Oliver, Programme Support Officer
Francis supports with the delivery and implementation of Brain in Hand projects to individuals, universities, local authorities and organisations. In this role he experiences various aspects of working at Brain in Hand, from processing referrals to delivering specialist training sessions and awareness training. Having completed an MSc in Medical Anthropology, he is particularly interested in the interaction of technology with health and well-being and how simple tech solutions can be used to complement existing care provisions, particularly in the current health-care climate.”
Priti Patel, Programme Manager
Priti (not the MP!) is based in our Manchester office. She has a wide range of experience across sales and marketing having worked across numerous industries from hairdryers to colour measuring equipment. She thrives on change and as a Business Development Manager helps organisations look at new ways to integrate Brain in Hand into their support to improve outcomes and reduce cost.
Outside of work she likes to teach people how to cook Indian curries from scratch and is a group co-ordinator for Contact The Elderly who run afternoon teas for isolated, elderly people.
Tom Pittwood, Programme Support Officer and Autism Awareness Speaker
Tom joined Brain in Hand in September 2012. He has continually used Brain in Hand since before his appointment to the company, having been diagnosed with Asperger’s at the age of 12. He graduated with an MA in Social Anthropology and recently launched a personal blog addressing autism awareness, on which subject he is noted for his enthusiastic speeches.
Natasha Schelestynsky, Customer Support Officer
Natasha joined the company at the start of 2018 and has since been supporting the team with a variety of different projects. Her main responsibilities involve supporting users who are self-funding BiH and helping with user engagement. Natasha also has a background in Psychology and volunteered with Student Minds while at university.
Outside of the office, Natasha enjoys family dog walks, crafting, the occasional nerf gun fight, and watching horror movies (despite regretting it later).”
Jonathan Sourbut, Programme Support Officer
Jonathan was one of the first people to use Brain in Hand at its inception in October 2011. Following this he joined the company on a work experience placement under founder Andrew Stamp, and secured employment in April 2012 at our first offices at the University of Exeter. This makes Jono our longest serving member of staff. Since then Jono has become our principle data analyst, producing activity reports for clients. Jono’s breadth of the Brain in Hand system and its development over recent years means that he is often called on to train and advise new users and clients.
Will Thomas, Junior Developer
Will “The Man” Thomas, Junior Developer and Chief Printer Maintenance Director. Seeker and destroyer of all office issues involving electrical equipment. Great overseer of all spare batteries. Almighty herald of the entire Office 365 software suite and its usage throughout the organisation across the nation.
Winston Harrison-Hartopp (Morale Officer)
Winston has extensive experience in team building and public speaking. He is an expert in sitting and lying down and is currently studying for his qualification to be a good boy.
Sullivan Todd (Morale Officer)
Sullivan the Newfoundland is our Chief Engagement Executive (and Interim Director of Growth!). He has two passions in life: making people smile, and slobber… He may be the youngest member of Brain in Hand staff but he’s definitely not the smallest! His big fluffy grin and extra-large puppy hugs keep his colleagues in high spirits, and he is working towards getting his life-saving water rescue qualifications so, should any of them find themselves in trouble, he’ll surely be able to pull them out and give them a big wet Sully hug.
Lesley Knowles Marketing Manager
Lesley has a strategic marketing background having worked for direct marketing and advertising agencies in social enterprise, charity, telecommunications, gaming, health & beauty, luxury goods and financial services sectors for over 20 years. Lesley loves all things SEO, brand, direct and digital marketing and feels very fortunate to be working in a social enterprise which achieves so much for so many individuals. The Independence and the personalised strategies which Brian in Hand delivers to users is the reason Lesley wanted to work here. Having initially trained as a graphic designer before moving into marketing Lesley describes herself as a proud generalist marketer who has a hands-on approach with an eye on the bigger picture.
Lesley has a cat called Enzo, a husband called Steve and lives on a hill. Her favourite film is Blade Runner and she loves F1.
