Neurodivergent experiences of everyday life: a six month diary study

This report shares insights from a six-month diary study exploring the everyday lives of neurodivergent people using Brain in Hand for the first time. Through diaries, metrics, and follow-up interviews, participants documented real moments of challenge, progress, and pride as they navigated work, family life, health, relationships, and self-care.

Rather than focusing solely on outcomes, the study centres lived experience. It shows how personalised support, coaching, and reflective tools fit into people’s lives over time – sometimes as daily support, and sometimes as skills that become internalised, supporting growing confidence and independence.

The report brings these insights to life through in-depth case studies, highlighting the diversity of neurodivergent experiences and the realities of balancing routines, wellbeing, and changing life demands. It also reflects on participant feedback, demonstrating how user voices directly inform the ongoing development of Brain in Hand.

Together, these findings reinforce a key message: there is no single pathway to support. Flexible, personalised tools combined with human coaching can empower neurodivergent people to better understand themselves, navigate everyday challenges, and create meaningful, sustainable change.
