Accessibility
This website is run by Brain in Hand Ltd. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- zoom in up to 200% without the text spilling off the screen;
- navigate most of the website using just a keyboard;
- navigate most of the website using speech recognition software;
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader.
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
You can read the advice from AbilityNet on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible. For example:
- you cannot modify the line height or spacing of the text;
- most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software;
- our Diary feature is difficult to navigate using just a keyboard;
- you cannot skip to sections of each page when using a screen reader.
Read our full, formal Accessibility Statement to learn more about our recent accessibility audit and our plans for improving the accessibility of all our services.
We recognise that different people may need to make any of a wide range of adjustments to make it easier for them to view websites. This site is designed to work with as many as possible of the solutions offered by computers, mobile devices, and browsers; this means that you should be able to easily apply settings that work for you to your viewing experience.
How adjustments are made depends on what sort of device (mobile, tablet, or computer) and browser (such as Chrome, Safari, or Microsoft Edge) you use to view the website. Computers and mobile devices commonly have built-in accessibility features that you can apply to your browser as well as to other software that you use.
Browsers also have built-in accessibility features, which you can apply to all websites or turn on and off as required. There are also browser extensions available to give you easier access to your settings; these may also allow you to more easily create different settings for each website you visit.
You can find out more about the accessibility options available from the following websites:
- Read AbilityNet’s guide 'My Computer My Way’ which provides guidance about making adjustments to your device to make it easier for you to use.
- You can find guidance on changing text size and colour to make text easier to read (from the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative).
- Read information about the Android accessibility features.
- Find out about accessibility on iOS for iPhone and iPad.
Browser extensions can allow you to apply a range of settings; many are freely available from your browser’s extension store. For one example, you can find out about Chrome accessibility extensions the ‘accessibility’ section of Chrome’s extension store.
